‘‘Summertime Collage’’ is a mixed-media tribute to the vivid, layered experience of summer in Crete. In this new body of work, Lorena Pagkalou captures the essence of Mediterranean life, where moments of leisure coexist with the quiet pulse of nature. Through a vibrant fusion of acrylics, watercolors, oils and other materials, each canvas becomes a sensory mosaic of color, texture and emotion.

The collection celebrates everything that defines the Greek summer: the turquoise shimmer of the Cretan sea, the touch of salt on skin and the carefree joy of swimming or sunbathing under an endless blue sky. Everyday objects, sunglasses, seashells, beach towels, ice cream cones and summer hats appear alongside elements of the island’s natural beauty: sea creatures, local fruit and rocky coastlines. These familiar symbols blend together like fragments of memory, forming a collage of sensations that embody the spirit of summer.

Through this project, Lorena continues her exploration of emotion, environment and identity, merging personal memory of her growing up in Greece and collective experience of all who are lucky to visit and experience the magic of the Cretan-Greek summer.
